desert winter

On our way back south to Phoenix, we made a stop in Sedona, which is known for its new age vortexes, psychics, wealthy adobe mansion owners and spectacular red rock vistas.

Here is a view of the trail we hiked to get to the Bell Rock vortex, a spot of desert with incredible upward flowing energy and some say, healing powers. But I've got to say, I started the hike with beginning symptoms of a cold and a heavy heart and after two hours exploring, when we came back, I was feeling quite jaunty.

and right south of Sedona is this awe-inspiring cliff dwelling known as Montezuma's Castle that's estimated to be as old as 700AD. It looks small in this photo, but up close it's really quite impressive. It was a beautiful day and we had a picnic of cheese and crackers by the river that's flowing just behind where this shot was taken.
